usually the human body can last only 14 ½ days without food and water however in auschwitz, the nazis gave half-a-liter of boiling water and a liter of soup amongst around 80,000 prisoners a day both at noon and this was their only meal and very little would actually consume their meal. during lineup for execution, inmate #16670, Maximilian Kolbe, decided to overtake an inmates place, one that was quivering in fear and begging for mercy, who was about to be executed. all ten prisoners in the lineup were sentenced to a starving chamber where they would not receive any food or water until they died. through such rough conditions, Maximilian Kolbe survived two full weeks without food nor water and showed no signs of any starvation and he was finally sentenced to execution by lethal injection.
